Meet Your Run Urban Coaches and Counselors

RunUrban is NYC’s premiere program because our staff believes in excellence. At RunUrban we believe in first hand experience and education.Those two things build the foundation of all our programs. Our Coaches are alll USA Track & Field Certified and are practicing runner’s themselves. Our nutrition counselors are graduates of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and specialize in different backgrounds.

<strong>JERRY MACARI</strong>
Jerry Macari is a well known top runner in NYC, a 2 hr. 24 minute marathoner, former New York Road Runners Club Master Runner of the Year and US Track and Field Certified Coach. Jerry is also the owner of Urban Athletics, the home for gear and advice to the NYC running community. Urban Athletics has been honored as Best Running Specialty Store by Runner’s World Magazine, as well as Shecky’s “Best Running Shoe Store in NYC”. Jerry is the founder and head coach of all RunUrban training programs.

<strong>TONY RUIZ</strong>
Tony Ruiz is an accomplished runner and coach with a tremendous following in New York City. Tony has been the head Coach of Central Park Track Club road racing team since 1997, where he has coached several Olympic Trials Qualifiers and countless local winning athletes. He currently competes at the World Class Level as a masters runner in track competitions nationally. His own personal bests include: 19:54 for 4 miles, 24:44 for 5 miles and 31:19 for the 10K.
<strong>NINA LEE</strong>
Nina Lee is an Olympic-qualifying sprinter for the Georgian National team. She achieves results for her clients by imparting the same discipline and technical expertise which paved the path to her own successes. She is a graduate of the renowned Sports Academy of the Republic of Georgia and an AAPT-certified trainer with over twelve years’ experience as an elite track coach. Her specialties include endurance, strength and power training, flexibility/mobility and pylometrics. Whether you’re training for serious competition or simply trying to improve your overall fitness and tone, Nina’s hard-won understanding of fitness fundamentals and time-tested instructive method will allow you to achieve results far beyond your expectations.
<strong>JIM SAINT-AMOUR</strong>
Jim Saint-Amour is a nationally certified coach through the Road Runners Club of America (R.R.C.A.).
His coaching experience is varied. He has coached runners of all experience levels from beginner to advanced.
Jim is a veteran of 12. and ultra-marathon distances, of which he has completed one 50 mile trail race. He is currently training for and plans to compete in the Vermont 100 ultramarathon, which is one of 4 Grand Slam ultras in the United States. His personal best for the marathon is a 2:55, which occurred at the Philadelphia Marathon in 2007.
His goal is to make all people who he coaches into life-long runners.

<strong>Kavan Greene</strong>
Kavan GreeneCoach
Kavan is an motivating and compassionate coach of children and adults. As the Director of Brooklyn New School After Care Program, licensed teacher, father of three boys, he has developed a special skill of making running fun for all ages. As a life long runner, Kavan has competitively raced all distances from 400 Meters to Marathon. He has completed 16 marathons with a 2:54 personal best.

Cara Macari is a co-owner of Urban Athletics and co-founder or RunUrban Coaching and Training. She is a lifetime fitness enthusiast, and accomplished distance runner with a Master’s degree in Exercise Science as well as a certified nutritionist. She was a nominee for New York Road Runner Club’s 2009 Runner of the Year award in her age group. . Her nutrition plans are created for the special energy demands of runners of all levels. In her program, you’ll learn how to fuel long runs, races and workouts, expedite recovery and incorporate the nutrients you’ll need for optimum health, performance and weight management.
