RU 2016 TRAINING PROGRAMS

That’s right, we are New York’s premier Coaching program featuring the most experienced and motivational coaching staff, led by Head Coach Jerry Macari. Jerry has been the owner of Urban Athletics for over twenty years. He is a former 2:24 marathoner and USA Track and Field Certified Coach. He, along with our experienced and highly skilled coaching staff have been supporting hundreds of runners per year to the start of races from mile to marathon. We’ve got your coaching needs covered with a selection of programs to choose from whether you want to race faster, or improve the quality of your life through running and a healthier lifestyle. Our experienced Coaching and Counseling staff is completely committed to your success, and will be your partner in achieving your personal goals.

We offer many Training Programs for Groups and Individuals at all levels.

GROUP SPEED & FORM CLASS

This 10-week program is provided twice a week and focuses on key factors such as VO2Max and running form. By completing interval workouts, repetition workouts, and tempo runs, you will sharpen your skills and become a faster runner.

MARATHON/HALF MARATHON TRAINING

Run Urban’s marathon training program includes the best of both group classes and personal instruction. Partner with a Run Urban certified coach, and get a completely personalized program, created especially for you to gets results.

BEGINNER’S RUNNING

RunUrban’s Beginner Running program is designed for new runners. If you’ve been wishing you could run, but are not sure how to start, this program is for you! This 10 – Week program is your first step toward incorporating running into your health and fitness routine.

RunUrban FOR KIDS!

Run Urban for kids is a fun program where your child will stay fit for ANY sport they participate in during the year. By learning good fundamentals and receiving consistent attention from a certified and experienced coach, the Urban Athletics Kid’s program helps kids of all ages become better runners.

NUTRITION COUNSELING

It’s rare for anyone to get an hour to work on their nutrition and goals with a trained professional. Most approaches to nutrition dwell on calories, carbs, fats, proteins. Instead of creating lists of restrictions and good and bad foods, I coach my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and discipline.

Run Urban’s Ultra Marathoning plan addresses the special concerns of preparing for distances longer than the Marathon. Preparing for a 30, 50 or even a 100 mile run requires specialized knowledge and careful planning.

When I first starting working with Tony I had plateaued as a runner, my times were not improving and I wanted to get some insight into why this was happening. Tony is incredibly knowledgeable and after just a few sessions, I was running better and becoming more athletic. He has taught me what it takes to be a competitive runner and he has shown me other ways to compete besides just road races, including cross country and indoor track. Ellen- PR of 3:11 in the 1000 meters with a fast last lap..THEN doubled with a great sub 11 3K with a final lap of 37 !!!!

Jennifer- Outstanding 1K of 3:12…I wish I could run one lap this fast

Michelle- faster than she thought!!! 1000 meters in 3:34….her feet are now wet..:)

Jessica- hopes to run 4:05 for the 1000…ran 4:05 for the 1000 …done

Geoff- 2:55 1K….35/lap…try that sometime!!!

James- hundreds if not thousands of races later and still getting it done…4:05 1000

Dominique-WHAT????!!!!! 1:46 for 3 laps (600meters)…world class !!!!!

Marc- his first crack at track and goes after it with a super fast 1:55 600….impressive ..hope he knows how fast this is!!!

Jason- my man WINS the fast heat in a FAST 8:55 3K..ended with a quick 34 last lap…this means he can go even faster!!!

Results are in from the First Light Marathon in Mobile, Mie Sawada took home the 1st master's award with a winning time of 4:07:51.

Paul Sorace took home his 1st award of 2018 in a new age category with 2nd Male 45-50 and Bob Smullen PR's by 2 minutes and BQ'd.

Congratulations Bob Smullen who just crossed the finish line at the Phoenix Rock and Roll Marathon in 3:33:40 and to Paul Sorace who ran the 10K in 43:16. Way to go guys.

Congratulations, also to Mie Sawada, our Marathon Maniac, in her 1st marathon for 2018 in Mobile, Alabama. Times are not yet posted.

Did anyone else race today? We all heard that Molly Huddle finished the Houston Half today to set a new American Record of 1:07:25. Beating Deena Kastor's record from 2006 of 1:07:34 by 9 seconds and beating fellow american Jordan Hasay by 73 seconds.
